Nathan Sykes



Nathan James Sykes (born April 18, 1993) is a British musician, songwriter and singer. He is a member of the British-Irish boyband The Wantedwhich was formed in 2009. They are currently signed to Island Records and in the US Mercury Records[1] and are managed by Scooter Braun, who also manages Justin Bieber.
Sykes and the rest of the band have had major global success. At the beginning of 2012, the band gained huge success in the US and Canada, with their hit single "Glad You Came" selling three million copies there and hitting #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 whilst their second single "Chasing The Sun" hit number #1 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart.He started singing and performing at the age of 6. In 2002, an eight-year-old Nathan beat thousands of contenders for the karaoke title on the Karaoke Kriminals programme on BBC One.[3] He continued to perform as a child singer winning various, where he got to kiss Britney Spears on live TV as part of his prize, and The Cheltenham Competitive Festival of Dramatic Art also in 2003 

In 2004, he auditioned to represent the UK in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in the British qualifying finals, he sang "Born to Dance" coming 3rd overall, after winner Cory Spedding and runner-up Andrew Merry.[4] The same year he appeared on ITV's Ministry of Mayhem, and won the Door Youth Project's "Undiscovered Youth Talent Contest" held in Derker performing "Mack the Knife". and performed for the Live and Unsigned music competition in Bristol in 2008. ".

In 2009, he became a member of the British-Irish boyband The Wanted that was formed in the same year by casting director Jayne Collins who also put together The Saturdays and Parade. The band consists of Max, Jay, Siva, Tom and himself.[6] The group formed through mass auditions which saw over 1000 people attend. The audition process took over 9 months and originally just Max George, Tom Parker and Sykes were involved with Siva Kaneswaran and Jay McGuiness joining later through the process.
He was born to parents Harry Sykes and Karen in Abbeydale. He grew up with his mum and younger sister named Jessica who has just finished her GCSE's.[8] He went to Longlevens Junior School, then turned down a place at The Crypt for a scholarship at Sylvia Young Theatre School in London for musical theatre in 2004 before returning to Ribston Hall High School for the sixth form.[9][10] On June 2, 2012 he helped parents and pupils in Cooper's Edge celebrate the official opening of the area's new community school
